The Codeshare Marketplace Has Closed

The developer marketplace that ran on codeshare.me closed on 14 September 2026. It was a place to publish source code and to list and sell developer services. The domain now serves our company site, and this post explains why we closed it and what happened to the data it held.

Why we closed it

There were two reasons.

The first was interest. The marketplace never found the audience it needed. Listings stayed thin, most visitors were passing through, and the exchange that makes a marketplace worth visiting, sellers with something useful meeting buyers who want it, never built up. A marketplace with few listings is not simply a smaller marketplace. It is a much less useful product.

The second was cost. It was the most demanding service we operated, and it came nowhere near paying for itself. When we studied its traffic before making the decision, most of it turned out to come from automated crawlers rather than from people. Paying to serve that indefinitely would not have been a sensible use of our resources.

The real cost of keeping a product alive past its usefulness is not the bill. It is the attention it takes from everything else.

What happened to your data

  • Account data was exported and removed from the live system.
  • Published listings and uploaded files were removed.
  • Old marketplace addresses now return a "not found" page rather than redirecting somewhere unrelated.

If you had an account and need something from it, write to contact@codeshare.me and we will help where we can.

What Codeshare is now

Codeshare is what it had in practice already become: a small studio that builds and runs its own products. On Discord there is Beatra for music and Sylon for moderation. JustDiscord and JustAnime are community platforms, MCStat tracks Minecraft servers and players, Dotrai is our AI chat, and Shroudly helps people reach sites their provider blocks. All of them are live, and closing the marketplace gives them more of our time.

Thank you to everyone who listed something, bought something, or simply had a look. It did not work out, and we would rather say so plainly than leave a product online that no longer serves anyone.
